Yay!! Good news!!! Hazelwood Food Forest, a project of the Pgh Food Forests, has received a Seed Award from the Sprout Fund. This means that we can move forward with the planting of Pittsburgh’s first food forest! We will be converting four adjacent vacant lots into a productive green space with fruit trees, shrubs, and perennials in Hazelwood. Though soil preparations and planting wont begin until spring 2010, we may have opportunities for volunteers to help with clearing/ cleaning up the site in the fall.
Also, be sure to check out our funders at www.sproutfund.org. The Sprout Fund is doing amazing things for Pittsburgh!
