Garden Update

A lot has happened since I last blogged including raised beds, asparagus planting, more blueberries, currants, jostaberries, a kiwi/hop tower, a pergola, the whole front and side yards and on and on, so I thought I would try to catch everyone up with some photos and a time-lapse slide show.

This is a 12' 4x4 with eye-hooks we concreted into the ground. Then we ran wires from the chain link fence up to it as supports for the kiwi vines.

Here is the early stages of the work we did on the side yard which included killing the grass, adding amendments, tilling, and regrading.

Here we got a little fence, the path is in, and we have planted ajuga and hostas. The pergola has not yet been put up in this picture.

Here is the pond as it has developed one year after it was put in.

This is by no means a full update. I will try to do a full blog on the pergola, I want to do an update on the grapevine, and the front yard will be its own blog. Stay tuned!

Monday Workdays 6-8pm

Our workdays have changed yet again!!! Sorry for any inconvience!  Please come to the Food Forest to see all of the changes and to help us to complete many projects.  Our goal is to have the gathering space completed by the end of summer so that we can begin hosting events in the fall!  Come help and check out the progress!

Weekday workdays, anyone?

I would really, really like to get to the food forest site more than once a week. I work full time, but have been thinking that it might be nice to do a few evenings at the site. The trouble is, that the site is SO big and I would be pretty lonely there….all by myself! :)

But…then I thought….you know what…some of those people who come to workshops/ workdays are as crazy as I am and would probably also love to do some physical labor after a day of work!!! SO how ’bout it???

Who wants to join me??? I was thinking Tuesday and Thursday evening (April 20th and 22nd). I can be there around 5:30pm. Please let me know via email if you want to join me, because if no one responds, I may not go! (pghfoodforests@gmail.com)

I would love to put in our deer fence and could use help with that! As well as moving soil and laying leaf mulch.

Thanks SO much,
Juliette
